Fort Uncompahgre
College

The mission of our Fort Uncompahgre College Program is to educate the general public on the Culture History and Ecology of the Old Spanish Trail and the Uncompahgre Valley. Our volunteers have spent lifetimes preserving and passing on the old traditions and lifeways of the diverse cultures present in the early 1800s. These dedicated craftsmen and scholars will share everything from traditional craftsmanship, like blacksmithing and textile dying, to artistic expression like beadwork, pottery, and culinary arts immersed in early 19th Century life in the desert southwest.
